His goal was to encourage people to read the Bible daily and become more familiar with the Word of God. Centuries ago, St. Jerome said that ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ. Today we might add that ignorance of the Scriptures is also what keeps Christians divided from one another as well as divided from our Jewish brothers and sisters. As we conclude the week of prayer for Christian unity, we might resolve to make an effort to begin reading our Bible for a few minutes each day. For those interested, there is a one-year version of the Bible which enables you to read for about twenty minutes a day and in 365 days you will have read the whole Bible. 4 DOMINGO DE LA PALABRA DE DIOS En Diciembre de 2019, el Papa Francisco designó el tercer Domingo o tiempo ordinario como "Domingo de la Palabra de Dios". Su objetivo era animar a las personas a leer la Biblia a diario y familiarizarse más con la Palabra de Dios. Hace siglos, San Jerónimo dijo que ignorar las Escrituras es ignorar a Cristo. Hoy podríamos agregar que la ignorancia de las Escrituras es también lo que mantiene a los cristianos divididos unos de otros, así como a nuestros hermanos y hermanas judíos.
