This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King and come to the end of the liturgical year. As we do so, we are reminded of the final judgment both in the Creed and in the Gospel. In the Creed we profess that Jesus will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. In the Gospel we are given a description of that final judgment where Jesus places the just on his right and the unjust on his left. Those on the right he welcomes into his kingdom because they cared for the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the ill, and the prisoners. He considers what they did for others, they did for him. Those on the left he sends to eternal punishment because they did nothing for those in need and he considers this as doing nothing for him. But there is no need to worry if we do what he expects us to do-to love and care for those in need. Even if we have failed to do this, beginning today we can change that pattern. It s never too late! NO HAY NECESIDAD DE PREOCUPARSE! Este domingo celebramos la fiesta de Cristo Rey y llegamos al final del año litúrgico. Al hacerlo, se nos recuerda el juicio final tanto en el Credo como en el Evangelio. En el Credo profesamos que Jesús "vendrá otra vez con gloria para juzgar a vivos y muertos, y su reino no tendrá fin". En el Evangelio se nos da una descripción de ese juicio final donde Jesús coloca al justo a su derecha y al injusto a su izquierda. A los de la derecha les da la bienvenida a su reino porque cuidaron al hambriento, al sediento, al forastero, al desnudo, al enfermo y a los prisioneros. Considera lo que hicieron por los demás, lo hicieron por él. A los de la izquierda los envía al castigo eterno porque no hicieron nada por los necesitados y él considera que esto no hace nada por él. Pero no hay necesidad de preocuparse si hacemos lo que él espera que hagamos: amar y cuidar a los necesitados. Incluso si no lo hemos logrado, a partir de hoy podemos cambiar ese patrón.
