1 Area of applicability These safety instructions apply to differential pressure transmitters of type series VEGADIF DF65.D******Z/H/P/F***** according to the EC type approval certificate TÜV 09 ATEX 555400 X (certification number on the type label). 2 General information The pressure measuring instruments are also used for differential pressure measurement in hazardous areas. The measured products can also be combustible liquids, gases, mist or vapour. The consist of an electronics housing with an "Ex-d" connection compartment with barrier and an "Ex-i" connection compartment with integrated electronics module, a process connection element and a sensor, the differential pressure measuring cell. Electronics module DF60Z is built into VEGADIF DF65.D******Z*****, electronics module DF60H into VEGADIF DF65.D******H*****, electronics module DF60PA into VEGADIF DF65.D******P***** and electronics module DF60FF into VEGADIF DF65.D******F*****. The display and adjustment module can be optionally integrated in the "Ex-i" connection compartment. The are suitable for use in hazardous atmospheres of all combustible materials of explosion group IIA, IIB and IIC for applications requiring instruments of category 1/2G or category 2G. If the are installed and operated in hazardous areas, the general Ex installation regulations EN 60079-14 as well as these safety instructions must be observed. The operating instructions as well as the installation regulations or standards that apply for explosion protection of electrical systems must generally be observed. The installation of explosion-endangered systems must always be carried out by qualified personnel. Category 1/2G instruments In applications as category 1/2G instrument, are installed in the separating wall separating the sections from each other in which category 2G or 1G instruments are required. The electronics housing is in the hazardous area requiring a category 2G instrument and the sensor is in the hazardous area requiring a category 1G instrument. Category 2G instruments The are installed in hazardous areas requiring instruments of category 2G. 3 Technical data Electrical data The are designed with intrinsically and non-intrinsically safe circuits. Non-intrinsically safe circuits The non-intrinsically safe circuits are connected to terminals in the "Ex-d" connection compartment. Display and adjustment circuit (terminals 5, 6, 7, 8 or plug connection in the "Ex-i" connection compartment) Communication circuit: (I²C-BUS socket in the "Ex-i" connection compartment) Circuit of the display and adjustment module: (spring contacts in the "Ex-i" connection compartment) The intrinsically safe circuits are grounded. In ignition protection type intrinsic safety Ex ia IIC Only for connection to the intrinsically safe supply and signal circuit of the corresponding external display and adjustment unit VEGADIS 61 (PTB 02 ATEX 2136 X). The regulations for the interconnection of intrinsically safe circuits between VEGADIF DF65.D******Z/H/ P/F***** and the external indication unit are complied with if the total inductance and total capacitance of the connection cable between VEGADIF DF65.D******Z/H/ P/F***** and the external indicating unit (L cable = 100 µh and C cable = 2.8 µf) are not exceeded. The indicating and adjustment module integrated in VEGADIF DF65.D******Z/H/P/F***** and the connected interface converter are taken into account. In ignition protection type intrinsic safety Ex ia IIC Only for connection to the intrinsically safe signal circuit of an interface converter VEGACONNECT (PTB 01 ATEX 2007, PTB 07 ATEX 2013 X). In ignition protection type intrinsic safety Ex ia IIC Only for connection to the display and adjustment module PLICSCOM. With the double chamber housing version, the display and adjustment module may be mounted either in the electronics compartment or in the connection compartment. If the VEGADIF DF65.D******Z/H***** are operated at temperatures higher than those specified in the above table, please make sure through appropriate measures that there is no danger of ignition from the hot surfaces. The maximum temperature on the electronics/housing should not exceed the values specified in the above table. The application conditions during operation in the absence of explosive mixtures can be found in the manufacturer information. The permissible operating temperatures and pressures are stated in the manufacturer information. 5 Protection against static electricity The in versions with electrostatically chargeable plastic parts, such as e.g. metal housing with inspection window or connection cable with the separated version, have a caution label pointing out the safety measures that must be taken with regard to electrostatic charges during operation. Caution: Plastic parts! Danger of electrostatic charging! Avoid friction No dry cleaning Do not mount in areas with flowing, non-conductive products 6 Grounding WARNING- DO NOT OPEN WHEN AN EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERE IS PRESENT The "Ex-db" connection compartment of contains a safety barrier without electrical isolation. The intrinsically safe circuit must be grounded due to safety reasons. The external or internal earth terminal on the housing is used for this purpose. 7 Impact and friction sparks When used as category 1/2G instruments, the in light metal versions (e.g. aluminium/titanium) must be mounted in such a way that sparks from impact and friction between light metals and steel (except stainless steel, if the presence of rust particles can be excluded) cannot occur. 8 Material resistance The must only be used in media against which the materials of the wetted parts are sufficiently resistant. 9 Mounting with external indicating unit VEGADIS 61 The intrinsically safe signal circuit between and the external indicating unit VEGADIS 61 should be set up without grounding. The required insulation voltage is > 500 V AC. When using the VEGA connection cable included with the delivery, this requirement is fulfilled. If grounding of the cable screen is required, it must be carried out according to EN 60079-14. 7
10 Ignition protection type flameproof enclosure Ex "d" The terminals for connecting the operating voltage or signal circuits are integrated in the terminal compartment with ignition protection type flameproof enclosure "d". The thread gap between "Ex-d" connection compartment and cover is a flameproof gap. The "Ex-d" connection compartment is provided with a M20 x 1.5 or ½-14 NPT thread for connecting to a certified "Conduit" system or for mounting an "Ex-d" cable entry certified according to EN 60079-1. Cable entries of simple construction may not be used. Please take note of section 13.1 and 13.2 of EN 60079-1. When connecting to a "Conduit" system, the associated sealing facility must be located directly on the "Ex-d" connection compartment. Unused openings must be sealed according to EN 60079-1 paragraph 11.9. A certified "Ex-d" cable gland can optionally by supplied with the delivery. It is suitable for insertion of armoured or unarmoured cables depending on the ordered version. The instructions in the document accompanying the respective cable enty must be observed. The "Ex-d" cable entry must be screwed tightly into the housing. The supplied cable entry is suitable for the housing temperature range mentioned in the specification. If a different cable entry is used, the separately certified cable entry or the temperature classes on the electronics determines the maximum permissible ambient temperature on the housing. Before opening the lid of the "Ex-d" terminal compartment or in case it is already open (e. g. during connection or service work), make sure that either the supply cable is completely voltage free or no explosive atmosphere is present. When wiring the connection line to the "Ex-d" terminal compartment, it must be sufficiently secured against damage and in conformity with EN 60079-14. The cover of the "Ex-d" connection compartment must be screwed in completely before commissioning and secured by screwing out the lid locking screw all the way to the stop. The cover of the "Ex-d" connection compartment with the caution label "Do not open when an explosive atmosphere is present" and the cover of the "Ex-ia" connection compartment without caution label must not be exchanged. The covers must be mounted on the corresponding connection compartments.
